Desert Winds Community Church strives to be a Missional Church.  What does that mean?

Characteristics of a Missional Church

- They are Christ centered and hunger for more of him in their life.

- They are Externally focused.

- They Place a high value on serving the physical needs of the community, neighborhood around them in order to share the gospel with them.

They see how important it is to "show the proof" before they "share the truth."

St. Francis of Assisi said, "Preach the gospel always and

use words when necessary." They are truly "doers" of the Word - not just "hearers."

- They have a hunger to see irreligious people come to life in Christ (salvation) and they are willing to pay whatever price to accomplish that.  In fact they demand it of themselves and one another - they hear the command of Christ to go and they go.

- There's a vibrancy of prayer in the life of the church - people sense and feel God leading them and energizing them with vision and dreams to go out and serve and share.

- There's a strong system / structure of mentoring, discipling - helping - guiding people to feel fully alive in their relationship with Christ.

- They have a passion to grow deeper and more alive in Christ. (They hunger and thirst for His righteousness.)

- They have a deep gutteral passion to worship God with a passionate heart and voice. They can't wait to get to church on Sunday to join with their brothers and sisters to tell God how great He is.

- There is a tremendous sense of excitement in the air that we are embarking on a fantastic journey with God.

- There's a sense that we're really doing something of unbelievable significance for God and

there's great joy about being a part of it.  It's like an electrifying anticipation of what God is going to do next around them and in them.

- They have a great desire for community (fellowship) with each other to encourage each other and exhort each other because of the battle

they face in the mission.

- There's very little in-fighting because they're so focused on the mission.

- The people are constantly overwhelmed with the grace of God in their lives.

- They see God adding to their number daily those who are being saved.

- They see God providing all the resources they need to accomplish the mission.

- They are always sending people into the mission field.

- They daughter churches almost every other year.

- They build leaders.

- They see their time as extremely important- they only want to spend their time doing what's most significant for Christ's kingdom.

- They don't want to waste their time or their resources on good things but the best things.

- They take risks on doing new creative, out of the box types of things/ministries.  To them its ok to try and fail. Their motto is: "If You Fail, Fail Big."

- They hate the status quo.

Now to Him who is able to to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us. --Ephesians 3:20
